Because of the world-wide connection we have through the internet, ideas and belief systems are freely flowing all around us. It is often difficult to determine what information is legitimate or even worth our time. How then do we expect anyone else, especially someone with no faith in God, to choose our message out of the millions? We simply can’t expect it. Believe it or not, though, not expecting a response to our testimony can attract interest.
“Lead by example” is not an obsolete phrase. Throughout the Bible we see people living in God’s will and attracting people to Him simply by example. Joseph’s story is the perfect illustration of how being a model of God’s character can win over anyone:
· Sold into slavery, became the manager of his master’s household.
· Sent to prison, became manager of the prison.
· Brought before Pharaoh to interpret a dream, released from prison to become second in command of all Egypt.
Joseph’s faithfulness to God and God’s faithfulness to Joseph led many to believe in the one true God. When asked, Joseph gave testimony, but the biggest impact he had on others came through his integrity, which was demonstrated through his actions.
The best way to show a modern atheist the love of God is to “live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God,” 1 Peter 2:16, ESV. Dedicate your life to God, and He will use it to reach others in ways you can’t even begin to imagine.
