A Sense of Direction (Intro)

Updated: Sep 27, 2018

Have you ever tried to walk backward without looking where you are going? It can be scary, and it usually ends with you falling. Your balance feels off, and before long you find yourself peering over your shoulder to see where you are walking. No matter how often you look back to see where it is you're headed, you still have this sensation as if your going to fall.

Have you ever seen those videos of things happening in reverse. They are super funny, and usually end in someone falling. And although they look funny, it never ends well to go backwards.

We were not meant to walk or move backward.

God did not design our bodies to go in reverse. Every time I’ve ever done it, it ended poorly. Likewise, our brains are also not designed to move backward.

How many times have we hashed out the past, reliving it over and over in our minds until we drive ourselves crazy? How often have we thought, “what if I hadn’t,” or “if only I had?” Does that ever end well? Not likely.

This blog is about moving through life’s journey together and figuring out how to move forward; forward with God to a future that is anything but backward. He has big things in store, and has given you the ability to head in the direction you need to go.

Join us here a few times a week as we investigate this adventure called life, learn to thrive, and become the people God intended us to be.

Let’s leave the past behind, and move forward to a bright future.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart,” Jeremiah 29:11-13 NKJV

Just for kicks and giggles, check out this cool video by Destin from #SmarterEveryday of "The Backwards Brain Bicycle," a bicycle engineered to operate in reverse that is impossible to ride.

Enjoy your week.
